These are two of the trio of brachyurus at my breeding partner’s house. This was the quarantine cage, and therefore lacked the soil necessary to keep them thriving. Once they shed, they have a lot of attractive orange in them.

Even though the color of the female looks to be acanthurus, she has all the physical features of a brachyurus. This is a common error amongst new ackie keepers.  The male is a red/yellow hybrid, with physical features of both subspecies.

Summer 2007 availability.

Yellow Ackies are a step up from Beardies and Leopard Geckos in care requirements. They require more careful attention to temperatures and humidity. These are the perfect starter monitor. These interesting animals thrive in small groups. They require many tight hiding places, and a deep soil based substrate to burrow in. We have a group of hi-red yellows, at Randy’s. We have gravid females, and hope to see babies available in July 2007.
