I am a hobby breeder of Bearded Dragons, Uromastyx, Crested Geckos, King Snakes, Blue Tongued Skinks, Red and Yellow Ackies, Peachthroat Monitors, and have obtained some nice Ball Pythons, Kimberley Rock Monitors, and Pilbara Rock Monitors as a future breeding projects. I have carefully selected the animals in my collection to be the best available. I am located in Morinville, Alberta, Canada, about 30min north of Edmonton.
I am working with another experienced breeder, Randy Archibald, to set up a great diversity of animals. We split the cost of the breeding stock, and will set each up with complimentary breeding groups of all of the animals we invested in. While many of the species list UVB as not necessary, I can think of zero examples of animals who would be harmed by it. Our recommendation for UVB would be the T-Rex active UV Heat Flood bulbs, manufactured by Westron. This is the closest to natural sunlight we can recreate indoors. We have these bulbs on almost all of the enclosures we use.
I have Pogona Vitticeps for Bearded Dragons currently, but I have my name on a waiting list for some Pogona Barbata. We have Mali Uromastyx, Ornate Uromastyx, Banded Uromastyx and Moroccan Uromastyx. 2007 might be the first year for producing the Malis, and the other species will likely produce in 2008. My ball Pythons are 100% het piebald and 100% het albino along with some normal females. The Ball Pythons are possible 2007 breeders.
With the small scale production, you can be assured each animal is cared for to its exacting needs. Temperature, diet, lighting, and supplementation are all managed with the specific needs of the animals in mind. The beardies and uros have 4’x2’ and 6’x2’ enclosures respectively. UVB is provided through MVB lights in most cages. Each cage will have at least 100uW/cm2 of UVB for proper calcium utilization. I aim for 5000k color temp which mimics noon day sun for proper stimulation. |
